Leroy became one of the important players of Feyenoord Rotterdam, and was named vice-captain during the 2010-2011 season. He played his first match in the Dutch national team against Ukraine on August 11, 2010. He joined FC Twente in the summer of 2011 and played a total of 77 matches during the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons. As a FC Twente player, this midfielder of Curaçaoan descent scored 21 goals.
Premier League club Norwich City became Leroy’s new club in the summer of 2013. He immediately impressed staff, club and fans with a goal against Bury and a couple of Man of the Match awards. He was awarded Norwich’s Player of the Month for August. To his credit, the player was selected for the Netherlands squad for the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil, where he scored his first goal in the second match of the group phase against Chile on June 23, 2014.
After playing 33 games at Norwich City, the Dutchman moved to newly promoted Premier League team Queens Park Rangers before the 2014-2015 season started. He played his first match for QPR against Tottenham Hotspur and scored goals against Leicester City, Burnley and Liverpool. Leroy joined Premier League side Swansea City on loan on the first of February 2016 and featured in 11 matches during the second half of the 2015-2016 season. He permanently moved to Swansea City in July 2016 and scored three goals in the first four Premier League matches of the season, including a goal against Chelsea FC.
